Online course for 3rd - 5th and 6th & up

Your students love playing computer games, think what a blast they’ll have learning to program their own games. In this teacher-led online course, students will learn how to create sprites, objects, events, and actions, while using drag and drop programming. Your students will create exciting, professional-looking games they can play and share with their friends.

Must have access to a Window 10 or higher computer (NOT Mac compatible) and have minimal experience using a computer.

This course provides a great follow-up from Game Creation 101 or can serve as a first introduction to video game making for grades 3rd – 5th or 6th and up. This project-based learning course will allow you to guide your students through step-by-step programming as they build their own games from start to finish. They will learn essential programming terminology and skills as they create an arcade-style shooting game with characters, bosses, health, bonuses, multiple levels, and more. The students that complete this course will have a basic understanding of the mechanics of programming, the process of building a game, problem-solving and attention to detail.

This 12-week, instructor-led, online course can be used in whole or in part. It is written as a stand-alone course and can be used as a supplement to your current STEM classes or as an after-school course or summer learning opportunity.

Your purchase gains you online access to everything you need for your chosen course. Each course package comes with a teacher guide, step-by-step lesson plans, worksheets, software downloads, and programming resources. Lesson plans and teacher’s guide can be easily downloaded or printed for use depending on the instructor’s preference.

Technology Requirements
Game Coder is taught on GameMaker which is a PC based program. The install instructions are provided in your teacher’s guide.

School/teachers will need to select a virtual online classroom platform. Make sure it is one that provides easy screen share options for all participants.
